Unique Skills To Aid You

I have unique skills as a therapist. I know the scary grip of depression and overwhelming anxiety. I have survived the desolation of progressive hearing loss and the profound helplessness in the face of tinnitus. I have battled wars in my role as a stepmother of two teenage girls. I could tell you about adapting to a new culture, financial challenges, losing faith, and finding a career. And I am able to tell you that despite (or perhaps because of) all those obstacles you are facing, you can live a joyful life and feel better. I can help you get there.

Professional Background

I graduated with honors from Oakland University, MI with a Master’s degree in Counseling. In my career as a holistic counselor, I have collaborated with medical doctors, alternative practitioners, as well as nutritionists. I was actively involved in the implementation of a HAP (Health Alliance Plan) funded low back pain research study. In addition, I administered hypnosis protocols and taught Functional Somatic Movement therapy. I have provided counseling services to patients suffering from a variety of ailments such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, chronic illness, and people struggling with relationships.

I founded Counseling for Healthy Living and worked as its CEO and mental health therapist in Denver and Boulder, CO. My clientele included people with depression, anxiety, grief and loss issues, relationship conflicts, substance abuse, domestic violence, eating disorders, tinnitus, career exploration, and stress management. My personal experience with tinnitus led me to the establishment of the Boulder Tinnitus Self-Help Group at Boulder Community Hospital, which I also facilitated. During this time period I received media coverage, convinced the Boulder mayor to declare “Tinnitus Awareness Week”, and I was honored by the American Tinnitus Association. I successfully completed the American Tinnitus Association’s Tinnitus Treatment and Management curriculum.

I was born and raised in Germany. I experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990 and the subsequent changes of a political and social system in turmoil. I have applied my native German language skills as a medical interpreter in the greater Denver area, including at the University of Colorado Hospital. The successful completion of the Professional Medical Interpreter Training at the Spring Institute for Intercultural Learning has elevated my level of performance.
